Announcement for 2002 Lohman Lecture

The 2002 Lohman Lecturer is Dr. James E. Stice, Professor Emeritus at the University of Texas at Austin. Professor Stice, a retired chemical engineering professor, founded the UT Center for Teaching Effectiveness in 1973. He also helped to develop the National Effective Teaching Institute. He has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching. For more detailed information, please see his homepage at

He will speak on the topic of "Engineering Education: Effective Teaching Methods" in Room 201 (seating up to 150 people, first registered first preference) of the MSC at 1:30-2:30pm on Monday, October 14. At 12:00 noon, there will be a luncheon meeting honoring Professor Stice. A nominal charge of $2.00 per person will be charged to each attendee of this luncheon meeting. There is no charge for the lecture at 1:30pm. Those interested can talk to Professor Stice during the morning of that day. Carolyn S. and Tommie E. Lohman are the donors of the Professorship that sponsors this lectureship.

To get registered, please return the following slip to James T. P. Yao (Mail Stop 3136) on or before Friday, 30 August 2002 (we will continue the registration process until 150 places have been taken or 30 August 2002, whichever happens first).
