Information on Teaching Evaluation
1. Professor William Rundell, Head of the Department of Mathematics
at Texas A&M University, has made a report on a study of teaching
evaluation available at the following web site:

This report is not viewable by your browser. It is in postscript
or .pdf format. When you click on the location above, the postscript
or .pdf file will be downloaded to your computer. You must then
save it on your hard disk, and print it out or view it using a postscript
or .pdf file viewer.

2. Jim Yao wrote a note entitled "
On the Quality of Teaching" in April 1982, with postscript
and comments by Prof. G.A.Leonerds dated January 1983. In this note,
Dr. Yao recalled his five "all-time best teachers" at
the University of Illinois at Urbana, in the 1950's, and concluded
that "...the quality of good teaching is not unique and cannot
be clearly defined." In the postscript, Dr. Leonerds made an
astute and concise analysis and raised an important question regarding
teaching evaluation.
3. Dr. C. H. Samson wrote an article entitled "
Comments on Teaching Evaluation " on 30 June 1997. In this
article, he suggested a rational approach to study this important
topic along with a good history of early developments at Texas A&M
University."
